About the Bungalow

Some rooms try to impress you. This one just works.

The 10 Standalone Bungalows are round, thatch-roofed units set along garden paths under mature trees, a short walk from the main lodge. The roof isn’t just for looks — thick, tightly-woven grass thatch is a real insulator, keeping the room noticeably cooler through the hot afternoon and quieter at night than a conventional roof would. It’s the same design logic safari camps have used for generations, because it still works better than most modern alternatives.

Inside, it’s straightforward: an en suite bathroom, a fan, screened doors and windows, and a small private veranda out front — enough to sit with a coffee and watch the garden wake up. No extra room, no connecting door, just a well-built space to sleep, shower, and head back out to the park.

You step off a paved path into your own world. Each room comes with a fan, screened doors and windows, and its own veranda. In the morning, warthogs graze around the cottages — they were built close to their natural habitat, not the other way around. Being on the paved walkway also keeps you close to the lodge’s main facilities, so parents can easily walk kids to the pool, the Kids Play Area, or the dining area without a long trek.

You’re 15 minutes from Murchison Falls, inside the park, with warthogs passing through most mornings and birdlife working the trees overhead most of the day. The two pools, the open-fronted restaurant, and the riverside bonfire are all a short walk from your door. If you’re traveling with a driver-guide, Sambiya also keeps dedicated accommodation for them on-site — ask us to arrange it alongside your booking.

This is the no-fuss way to stay inside the park.
