Sambiya River Lodge was one of the first lodges in Murchison Falls – open since 1996 when the drive from Kampala took a full day and very few made it. We still sit in the same spot: on a bluff above the Sambiya River in the southern sector, just off the Top of the Falls turn-off, 18kms from the Paraa ferry.
Newly renovated, but still mid-range on purpose. Open-fronted, thatched, built from local materials, running on solar water heaters with a backup generator. No gold cage. Just intimacy, a lot of trees, and the park coming to you.

Sambiya sits directly inside Murchison Falls National Park in the southern sector. Your safari begins immediately.
15 minutes to the Top of the Falls
We are closest to the Falls—where the Nile squeezes through a tight gorge & plunges 45m into the roaring “Devil’s Cauldron.

A natural salt lick sits outside our open-sided dining area. Elephants, buffalo, bushbuck frequently wander up to drink while you eat.
12 acres of riverine forest
Surrounded by mature trees, our grounds are a living extension of the park. Soar across our 245-meter forest zipline, walk the canopy, or spot native bird species without ever starting a vehicle.
Starlit showers & floodlit nights
Wash off the safari dust in private, solar-heated outdoor showers beneath the open sky. Afterward, head to the bonfire or pool—our floodlit riverbank keeps the wilderness alive after dark, bringing nocturnal animals into view.
A proper break for parents
We give parents a real break. With on-site caretakers, dedicated play areas, and a shallow pool, you can enjoy a 3-hour Nile boat cruise knowing your children are safe, happy, and supervised.
